CORAL NURSERY COURSE & MAINTENANCE SPECIALTY

We have partnered with Utila Dive Centre to provide specialty training opportunities for divers who’d like to learn with our Coral Nursery Course & Maintenance Specialty.  Our Utila Coral Restoration Nursery is a Government licensed and approved project in the Caribbean Bay Islands, part of the Mesoamerican barrier reef system and with world famous scuba diving, and Dolphins and Whale sharks.

The purpose of the PADI Coral Nursery Course & Maintenance Specialty is to teach you about the different methodologies involved in reef restoration projects, techniques to clean and maintain the nursery and finally the proper way to survey and monitor the restoration project.  Learn more about corals and our restoration goals on our Coral Facts page.  We also offer additional specialty courses on our Coral Nursery restoration project and other marine and ecological areas and also scuba diving training to professional level (PADI Divemaster and Scuba Instructor) with the Utila Dive Center.

Prerequisites: PADI Open Water Diver at least 15 Years Old

Confined Water Dives: 1

Open Water Dives: 2

Goals of this Distinctive Specialty Coral Nursery Course:

  • Discuss the importance and need for coral restoration

  • Discuss different coral nursery techniques

  •  Discuss the coral nursery cleaning methods

  • Perform thorough maintenance on a coral nursery

  • Evaluate nursery conditions and plan the dive
